Zodiac Reggae Riddim’ Guitar
The Force Behind Mad Collective Connection
A Rebellious Scot
With the soul of a rebel, Zodiac is the driving force behind Mad Collective Connection. A mixed journey from rock-infused rhythms to the deep pulse of roots reggae, his evolution has bestowed passion and purpose. A guitarist, a leader, a strategist—he weaves melody with vision, ensuring that MCC’s sound is as powerful as its message. Zodiac is more than just a player in the band, he is its unwavering anchor in the ever-changing tides of reggae music.
Born in Scotland, his musical passion began in the 1970s playing guitar in a rock band. With a love of songwriting and heavy, syncopated guitar riffs, he wrote most of the bands music but also covered legendary bands with iconic sounds – His favourite was the reggae rock band The Police. Their blend of rock and reggae had him hooked on offbeat rhythms.
Jobs were tough to find in Scotland and lack of prospects forced him to quit music and study electronics. As tech skills are revered worldwide he was lucky to be offered a job in Sydney.
Drawn to the sun, beaches, surf culture and the Aussie no-nonsense attitude, Zodiac made the country home.
The universe colluded again as Zodiac rekindled his love of guitar after a 40 year absence. A few days later, he met Mystic over a few beers and started jammin some reggae tracks. The stars were aligned setting the stage for Zodiac to become a part of MCC.
Now as the guitarist and drive behind Mad Collective Connection, Zodiac brings his lifelong passion for music to the reggae scene, blending rock with reggae roots while embracing the laid back Rastafarian culture. After all, it is an easy transition to swap “Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll” for “Love, Ganga, and Reggae Music”!
